Your Turn. Help a Fellow Reader Out!

Got this question in the comments today from Shad0ws. Thought it would be fun to post it up here and get some responses from my readers. It's an interesting situation.

Tell me what you all think!
"I have a question on a trade in my league, have been doing well this season but want an outside opinion on this one.

10 Teams, .5 PPR, and I was offered this by the 3rd place team

(me) Run DMC + Wes Welker for (him) AP + Megatron

My team is pretty stacked atm. I'm 3-0 averaging 150 points/week, which is 100 more than the other 3-0, and I just got a deal done for Andre Johnson, so if this went through I would have AP and Mendy at RB, Andre and Calvin at WR, and Miles Austin at flex when he returns. WW and DMC are the top scoring position players this year so far, but I don't know if they can keep it up, welker cuz of other option in NE and DMC cuz of injury. Megatron and AP are 2 of the most consistently high performing players in the league. Thoughts?
I could also possibly do DMC + Austin, but I think I like Austin better than Welker long term this season."

So there it is. Darren McFadden and Wes Welker for Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson. What do you say?

  1. I'd pull the trigger on that in a second. Megatron and AP's consistency alone put me over the top. DMc is hurting right now and his history shows he will probably miss a game or two this year, while AP's history shows that he is a top 5 back ever year. Megatron looks like he might be overtaking Andre as the best WR in the game this year. I too have a trade question...I've been offered DJAX for Shonn Greene. I hate DJAX's inconsistency and it seems like Greene is good for 10 pts a week outta my FLEX position. I do have Knowshon and Marshawn on the bench to plug into my FLEX but am still unsure on how Knowshon is gonna pair with Willis. I've been running out Roddy and Mario at my WRs every week and I am not sure if I like DJAX over Mario. Lemme know what ya think.

  2. I agree with your assessment. I don't see McFadden staying healthy, and Welker continuing to produce insanely high numbers...actually I think (hope) that NE will begin to establish the run via Stevan Ridley. Anyway, AP is almost never injured, and Megatron is a beast all season no matter what. DO IT.
Anyone else catch Ridley in preseason? He's something special. I've added him to my CBS league.

  3. Djax is synonomous with Vick...and Vick isn't lookin too hot so far. However, I think you might be selling a little too low with Greene. I would keep him in my flex until he has a hero day, then evaluate for trading.

  4. Yea don't remind me...I have Vick as my QB too. lol.

  5. Heh, I'm honored that my situation warranted a post to itself.

I thought about it for a while, and decided that I would take the trade, but unfortunately the other owner pulled it off the table a couple hours later before I could actually accept it. Now he claims he wants more, and Megatron + AP isn't worth more than DMC + Welker to me. It still was a fairly interesting situation though: High Upsides / Hot Streaks vs Proven Consistency.

I think there is a good chance that Welker and DMC finish out the season in the top 5 at their respective positions, and a decent chance that they beat out Megatron and AP, but for Megatron/AP a top 5 finish is a near guarantee. In the future I would give up the 5-10 points a week it would work out to be in the best case scenario for a near-guaranteed top 5 finish by both players.

  6. DJax is a boom or bust kind of guy, thats how he has always been. If you really can't handle the unpredictability, you probably want to wait until he has a big day, and then sell him off for someone worth more then Shonne Green, who has also had some ups and downs so far.

  7. Oh, 1 other thing: the .5 PPR really makes a huge difference to this trade, as that extra half point per reception gives Welker and DMC a huge boost. If it was a standard league I would have jumped on the trade instantly.

  8. GHL,

So I was just offered Philip Rivers for Schaub straight up because this guy is pissed at how rivers has performed so far...Im thinking I should take it and based on your rankings I should but it seems that a lot of Rivers targets are banged up, what do you think?

  9. Should I start Cam Newton or Josh Freeman this wk??

  10. i dont even know why this trade is unneccasry, what is the point of shuffling top 5 studs back and forth ?

  11. If you're getting AP and Megatron, you are winning this deal... Cal Johnson is and has been the best player in the league for a few years now. Not to disparage the white boy, buy Calvin is poised for one of the best seasons of his career with Matt Stafford throwing smoke. AP is the consistent fantasy stud--always has been. I think that there is only one potentially inconsistent player in this trade, and it's Darren McFadden.

Long story short, AP brings consistency and Megatron brings infinite upside. DO IT

  12. lol shit... didn't see that it's ppr. NEVERMIND DONT DO IT

  13. I actually think that many of you guys are overvaluing Adrain Peterson and Calvin Johnson based on name value. This is PPR, so Wes and Run DMC are worth more than both of these guys. Yes, Wes is not going to keep up this average but he will still continue to get the most targets out of all the NE pass catchers; and yes, Run DMC is more injury prone, but look at the producton you have been getting out of him (9.0 ypc against the JETS). Megatron might explode, yes, but I still think you are fine where you are.

  14. Take it, now. Schaub is a sell high candidate and wasnt playing as well as his stats looked last game. Rivers will come eventually.

  15. Shadows,

At first I thought you should do it in a heartbeat.

But after a second, I consider that it is a given that you will be in the playoffs.

And after analysing the matchups, I like OAK+NE better than MIN+DET.

Also, it is PPR, which helps both of your guys.

So I say you must be happy the trade didn't went through and ride your guys till the end.

    Great job, by the way.

  16. Hahaha. Exactly. That's what makes this interesting

  17. Pointless trade really. But a fun one, nonetheless.

  18. This is not the place for that. Look at the rankings.

  19. I'd take it. I love Rivers in fantasy. Chargers always come on late.

  20. I was just proposed a trade for Felix Jones. I would be getting the Law Firm and Hakeem Nicks. I still like Felix and his upside he brings in the offense. Nicks is still kinda struggling with his early knee injury and it looks as if the Firm is about to start losing carries to Ridley. I originally thought no way but just wanted to see what GHL and its followers thought.

  21. must be a 6 man league...jesus lol

  22. I think Newton will be a great start this year unless the weather will be a factor, or if it is against a great defense. They are throwing the ball everywhere, and CHI is very good vs the run.

    I roll with Newton.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It really depends on your lineup. I like Nicks. When he is healthy, he will blow up again. Jones is the starter, but also an injury risk.

If you have two RBs on your roster that you think can be starters every week for you, then I say yes, do it. If your RBs will be too weak, then dont.
