It is time again for the Weekly Position Rankings. We are going to be predicting the top performers at each position for Week 2 of the NFL. We are dealing with a lot more injuries than we were in week one. Lots of guys listed as questionable, so keep an eye on them. (Hakeem Nicks, Arian Foster, Dez Bryant, etc.) Make those adjustments when necessary
As always, if I left someone off that you think should be on there, please let me know. I will be posting an advice time article tomorrow, but feel free to start posting you line-up questions here.

First off, I'd like to thank you guys for the advice! Much appreciated. Thank you.. now for the $2 question.. In deep leagues, who would you rank over the other and why? Emmanuel Sanders or Antonio Brown? This is of course assuming the Steelers put up some numbers in wk 2.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Jack
Also, you have Lance Moore listed as #46 and #49
ReplyDeleteIt looks like this is going to be a dilemma I'm going to have for most of the season. I have to choose between Mike Thomas or Austin Collie for my third receiver. I normally would have just gone with Collie since Thomas is going against the Jets, but man Kerry Collins was terrible. Don't know what to do with this spot anymore. Thanks for all the advice, I won in all 3 of my leagues plus the team I picked for my wife was the top scorer of the week!
ReplyDeleteHey man,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know I killed it in Week 1, finished with the most points in the league courtesy of Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Welker, and McCoy (all drafted using this site's rankings). That said, it was Week 1, and while this is my first go at FFB, I'm not dumb or naive enough to think it'll be like that all season.
I know I'll need good bench players to help carry me the rest of the way, and that's what I'll be asking for advice on here.
It's a standard Yahoo league, as of now my team looks like this:
QB: Stafford, Peyton Manning
RB: McCoy, Felix Jones, Fred Jackson, McGahee, Delone Carter
WR: C. Johnson, Welker, Mike Thomas, Amendola, Johnny Knox
TE: Vernon Davis
D: Detroit
K: Bironas
No sense in holding onto Peyton. I'll need a serviceable guy in case Stafford goes down, as well as a someone whose Bye Week isn't Week 9 (same as Det). Looking over the wire I see Henne, Grossman, Hasselbeck, Campbell. Should I snag one now? Or should I look to make a deal for a QB?
Amendola is done and Mike Thomas has a no-name throwing at him. Should I look to replace both of them or just Amendola? FAs are Lance Moore, Devery Henderson, Doucet, Andre Roberts, Driver.
Also not sure if McGahee or Delone Carter are worth bench spots. Indy will likely be trailing a lot and abandon the running game, no?
As always you're advice is much appreciated! Looking to keep my team headed in the right direction with your help!
I finally pulled the trigger and joined in my first FF League. Well I think I did pretty good. It is a PPR League, we drafted 3QB, 4RB, 4WR, 2TE, 2K, and 2DF.
ReplyDeleteThis is who I ended up with:(Not in this particular order)
Romo, Mcnabb, Fitzpatrick
Mendenhall, Turner, Tolbert, Green Ellis
Nicks, Manningham, Santanna Moss, Bryant
Pettigrew, Cooley
Kaeding(dropped and picked up Akers), Scobee
Detroit, KC
Now I have a few questions. Tolbert had a hell of a week 1 and scored me 34 points, do you think he will repeat this in week 2? Turner and Mendenhall will always be number 1 and 2 and my plan is to try and always run a RB in our one flex spot. So I'm thinking Tolbert is my perfect guy for the flex spot
Second, I used Nicks and Manningham as my two receivers, is it a good idea to run two WRs like I am doing from the same team? I also believe Romo, Austin, and Bryant are going to have a stellar year so I am debating on my week 2 lineup as far as my receiving corps goes.(I tried so hard to get Austin it just didn't pan out)
I ended up in 7th place because of Mendenhalls piss poor performance and I'm just trying to be more competitive. Let me know what you think, thanks...
OOPS, before I forget, we start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1Flex, 1TE, 1K, 1Defense
In the last week, my roster has changed unexpectedly. Someone seeking RB help offered me Larry Fitzgerald in exchange for Tim Hightower. Too good to pass up (per your advice, thanks!), but I admittedly miss the depth I had at RB. My RB/WR roster now includes: Arian Foster, Felix Jones, Javid Best, Ben Tate, Fitzgerald, Mike Williams (TB), Manningham, Harvin, and Antonio Brown. I have two questions:
ReplyDelete1) Rather than keep a sleeper WR on my bench in Brown, should I replace with a sleeper RB? Do you have any names you are particularly high on (e.g. Deji Karim, Delone Carter, etc). Or, is it better to pick up a known commodity with a low ceiling (e.g. Marion Barber, Ricky Williams). Or, just do nothing and/or wait.
2) For week two, it looks like I need to play Foster/Best/Fitzgerald/Williams based on your rankings. What do you think about flex out of the remaining guys in a standard league?
As always, thanks!!
Hey GHL!!
ReplyDeleteHere is my team for Week #2 with one of my leagues:
QB: Stafford
WR: Hakeem Nicks
WR2: Vincent Jackson
RB: Ray Rice
TE: Owen Daniels
W/R/T: Felix Jones, Stevie Johnson
K: Neil Rackers
Def: Detroit Lions
BN: James Starks, Colt McCoy, Robert Meacham, Fred Davis, Ed Dickson, Brandon Gibson
I know my bench isn't much and I was thinking I would stick with my starters although I'm concerned with Nicks injury.
Oh yea my D players are: Curtis Lofton, Paul Posluszny, James Laurinaitis
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if I should keep them or change it up: Kam Chancellor (S), Patrick Chung (S) and Pat Angerer (LB) are available.
Thanks!
Sorry one more question...Green Ellis is on waiver and I was thinking about getting him and dropping one of my TE's on the bench.
ReplyDeleteI'm facing the top scorer from week 1 in both my leagues this week (I was 3rd highest in each). The guy in league 2 racked up 199.83 (and he used autodraft)! Definitely gonna be tough. Both leagues are 0.5 PPR. One gives 1pt/15 rtn yds and the other gives 1pt/20 rtn yds. League 2 has a flex (W/R/T) in addition to standard lineup.
ReplyDeleteLeague 1: Have Sanchez and Bradford for QBs. Was thinking of picking up Grossman or Fitz for this week. (Trying to trade Tate for E. Manning, but I think his owner is asleep at the wheel. He left Foster in his lineup Sunday but still won.) Rolling with Megatron, Wallace, and Bryant at WR. If Bryant can't go, should I plug in Meachem or A. Brown? Normally a no-brainer, but Brown does returns and Seattle already gave up a couple of ST TDs (sounds like a disease). Planning to roll with Rice and F. Jones at RB (Tate, F. Jackson, and McGahee on bench). Only TE on my roster is Kendricks. I'm surprised you have him at #10 this week. Stay with him, or pick up someone else? Gresham, Keller, Davis, Dickson, and Olsen available. All set on D with Jets.
League 2: Ben at QB (sent Bradford away in a trade for Nicks). For WR, A. Johnson and D. Jackson are easy calls. What's your feeling on Nicks? I know it's early, but is he a risk to start even if he plays? I have A. Brown, Meachem, and Decker as alternates. McCoy and F. Jones are my RBs (Best, F. Jackson, and Jacobs are my benchers). Was planning to use Best or Brown in flex. All set with Witten at TE. Currently holding San Diego on D/ST, but am worried about the matchup, so I picked up Houston and was thinking I'd use them. Is SD worth holding, or should I drop them so I can pick up someone like Henderson or Doucet?
Still like my chances this season. Like them even better with this site as my secret weapon! Also, I have to say thanks for getting me on the twitter. I've found it invaluable for fantasy purposes. In addition to you, I follow Schefter and Bell to get the jump on my opponents when it comes to breaking news and injury reports. Anyone else you recommend?
Hmm...so Kendricks huh? I'm torn between he, Gresham, and Davis. I've got Gonzalez as my TE1.
ReplyDeleteAlso deciding between Deion Branch, Nate Burleson, and Devery Henderson. Branch may be more of a consistent contributor than I'd originally thought, despite ocho's presence.
No Tampa Bay Defense against the Vikings?
ReplyDelete10 - team standard. Lost last week (Ryan, VJax & Clark kinda did me in).
ReplyDeleteDo I give Clark another week vs CLE or put Hernandez in? Henderson or Jones if Nicks or Lloyd can't go. Matt Ryan vs PHI...gag. The only people available higher than him on your list are Sanchez & Grossman - Fitzpatrick sounds intriguing maybe? NO & DAL Def are available on waivers, but with everyone banged up in STL I figured I'd still be good with NYG. Thanks man - love the site.
qb - Ryan
wr - Nicks
wr - V. Jax
wr - B. lloyd
rb - McCoy
rb - Forte
te - D. Clark
k - Gostkowski
d - NYG
bench:
Julio Jones
D. Henderson (just picked up)
Steve Smith (PHI)
Hightower
Tomlinson
Aaron Hernandez (just picked up)
Andrew, Jordan... I am in 3 leagues (two serious money leagues) and want to thank yall for the input i received last week. I dominated oponents across the board...
ReplyDeleteI will try to limit my questions this week and will compose only a few "must-answer" questions. can't wait for this weeks matchups, cant wait for the advice. I think yall r gonna be very proud of my team next week. GHL (God Hates Losers so he must love me!) anxiously awaiting input. after i post my team for this week (btw i started mathews over Tolbert but hey if thats the worst mistake i made all week then im doing pretty well.) I do have a serious question. What happened to L. BLOUNT? please let me know how both of you feel about this Blounts lack of performance. I cant count on winning by 15 every week. should i bench blount for Sidney Rice, Braylon Edwards, R. Mathews, or M. Tolbert?
God Hates Losers so he must Love Me
If the best rated kicker is in the top offense which are more likely to score a TD than stall in FG range, (Mason Crosby) wouldn't that rank him lower in Kicker rankings under someone who's team IS more likely to stall in FG range? Could someone please explain to me? Would like to understand.. thank you.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant to say Foster/Jones/Fitz/Williams as the starters based on your rankings...
ReplyDeleteWeek 2 start: 1 point per recption
ReplyDeleteWR3 - Johhny Knox or Dexter McCluster ? (we get 1 point per 15 yards on kickoff returns) so I am leaning towards Dexter
FLEX- Sam Bradford or Cedric Benson ?
GHL-
ReplyDeleteStraight quick questions:
Mark Ingram, LaGarrette Blount, or Beanie Wells in my FLEX spot?
Trade in Bradford (bench spot) for Fitzpatrick?
Greg Olson for Jermaine Gresham, Brandon Pettigrew or even Fred Davis on WW?
Plaxico instead of Williams(TB), Manningham, or Boldin?
Thanks!
GHL-
ReplyDeleteFor my second league:
Is this trade good in the long run? My guys- Mark Ingram/Deion Branch for Reggie Wayne/Early Doucet?
Lastly pick up Fred Davis, Benjamin Watson on WW dropping James Jones? (i've got Greg Olson.
Thank you sir
Hey guys and gals,
ReplyDeleteCan you please pick 2 of the three WRs for me? My situation at this position blows, and I have a bunch of marginal talents to choose from:
Dwayne Bowe
Julio Jones
Malcom Floyd
Thanks! Also, if you have an idea about guys to watch at WR, I'm all ears. I need a savvy waiver pickup to shore up this position.
Also have Devery Henderson... but I don't know if I want to start him against my Bears.
ReplyDeleteFor RB2 would you start Greene (vs. Jacksonville), F. Jackson (vs. Oakland), or Mathews (vs. New England)?
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt trade away Reggie wayne. Mark ingram isnt doin much and i dont think Branch is anywhere near as reliable as wayne
ReplyDeleteIn two standard leagues:
ReplyDeleteWR2 and Flex: Marshall, Manningham, or Tolbert
RB2 and Flex: Benson, Starks or Best
Addai or R. Bush in the flex??
ReplyDeleteNow don't take this the wrong way GHL, I did this more out of curiosity (as well as a timewaster) about Kicker strategy (which I'm currently trying to dig deeper into), than to show the inaccuracies of Week 1's Kicker rankings. There has to be a better way to think about who is going to be a top performer other than Pick a team that's going to score a lot. I have not done the research, but there has to be some sort of correlation between an Unsuccessful Redzone % to Kicker Points. Or did I just spend way to much time writing this post?

well - the text formatting didn't work out here so this now looks kinda lame :)
ReplyDeleteThis is tough. Right now.. I think Sanders has the most trust from Roeth. By the end of the season, I dont know though. Brown had a great preseason and can do a lot of good stuff, but right now, he is just a project. I'd go Sanders for now.
ReplyDeleteOops. Thanks
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Congrats. This is definitely going to be a bit of a problem. This week, I cant say Thomas will be that high against Revis. Collie is a hard sell, but Collins is going to be getting more reps with the offense and cant possibly be as bad as he was last week, right? Both are gambles. Collie seems safer.
ReplyDeleteI'd wait til later in the season before you do a complete overhaul. But you can do some light cleaning.
ReplyDeleteAll of the QBs you listed have pretty decent matchups in Week 9. Right now, I'd probably go with Grossman as he seems to be the most consistent, but you can probably count on all of them staying in Free Agency, so you aren't married to your pick.
Mike Thomas is probably worth holding on to. He is the only real receiving weapon and can have some decent games in the future based on matchup. I'd get Henderson. With Colston out, he should get some good work for the next few weeks. The others are all a bit more gamble. Lance Moore has a nagging injury.
McGahee is in a prime spot to take over for Moreno, who is underperforming and injury-prone. Carter would be the one to drop if you are doing anything. But again, I'd hold out for a little while just to see how things go and get some more consistent ideas of how stats will turn out this year.
Are you required to keep the roster like this all year? Having 3 QBs and 2 Ks and whatnot? Because if not, you should do some serious cleaning.
ReplyDeleteI like the roster a lot. Very nice draft all around, especially for your first one.
Tolbert will not repeat the Week 1 stats, but he will remain the best RB on the Chargers. Dont expect those numbers again, but he will get PPR stats for you, and yard rushing and receiving, and get the goal line TDs. Tolbert will fit the Flex nicely.
But dont count your WRs out as you seem to be stacked at that position as well.
I have no problems using two WRs from one team. You have to understand that Manningham will always be the WR2 though, so he will be inconsistent. We offer the position rankings every week, so you might want to adjust your roster accordingly.
Sounds like your league isnt very deep at all, so competition is going to be rough. You have the weapons though to make it work. In shallow leagues like this it is key to have great predictions and go with your gut. Changing the lineup based on matchups will be how you win in your league.
Youve got Foster, Jones and Best, so you can afford to have a sleeper RB on your roster. I like Karim. He had a good Week 1 despite being a backup, and if MJD goes down, then he is their only real option.
ReplyDeleteEither Manningham or Jones would work in the Flex this week. It was hard to get a read on the SF defense since they were playing the Seahawks, but I have to imagine they will be pretty solid against the run. Manningham against STL could be a good matchup. Especially if Nicks is out or limited with his injury.
Looks good to me. Should be a good week. Nicks is going to be tough since they are the Monday game. Pay attention this week and Sunday morning to see if there is any news on him. I would assume that he will play. If not, Meachem might be the best option on your bench this week to go WR.
ReplyDeleteAngerer is looking fantastic. But I like all of your guys too. It would be hard to dump any of them. It depends on your IDP scoring system. I'd wait til after Week 2 to get a better feel for everyone though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you have three of them. Go for it.
ReplyDelete1) Bryant will play. Use him. I'd stay with Kendricks at TE. I like him this week. Just worried about the defense.
ReplyDelete2) I dont think Nicks it risky this week. Just have to make sure he is good to go. I like Best at your flex. SD is a good defense, so you might want to hold onto them, unless you are comfortable trying SDS. I like the call going with Houston though.
Yeah, Twitter definitely has some great info. Its where I go to get all of my injury updates. I like Matthew Berry, he's a good follow. You'll find some interesting players on their too.
I like Kendricks. He disappointed in Week 1, but now without Amendola, his stock rises. Vernon Davis has to be your play though.
ReplyDeleteOcho didnt do anything in week 1, so I would expect the same for week 2. SD is a tougher defense than Miami though. Henderson could be nice with Colston and maybe Moore being out.
I had them at number 20, but dumped them to add Denver to the list. Bucs were disappointing last week, so I can't throw them that high on my list.
ReplyDeleteI'd go Hernandez at TE. I'm hoping Nicks is good to go, but if either of the are out I'd go with Henderson since they are minus Colston and maybe Moore again.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sold on the Giants D. Too many injuries, they lost to the Redskins, not OK. I'd make the switch. CHI looks ok, so Dallas might be a risky, but smart move.
Congrats on the wins! Good to hear it. I have no idea what is happening with Blount, but I was not sold on him in the preseason. A gut thing, I suppose. TB is maturing and they want to get Freeman more into a passing game. Also, their other RBs are healthy and they stated they want to spread it out more. Blount could still end up turning it on, but for now, its very hard to predict. Tolbert will again be the main man in SD, so I'd go with him. He seems to be turning into a more featured back and is getting a role in the passing game surprisingly.
ReplyDeleteI will try.
ReplyDeleteIt's more of a safety thing for me. Kickers will be inconsistent throughout the week. You draft them last because they are hard to predict and there isnt much of a difference between the top performer and the 15th performer.
I go with the kicker on a good offense. Sure, they are more likely to get into the endzone, but you still get a point for that. I would rather have a bunch of extra points and a chance for a FG or two than having a small chance of them making it down the field. This is why I stick to higher scoring offenses for my kicker.
I go with the higher guys, just because you are guaranteed to get points on the board. Where if you go with a kicker for a lesser team, you might not get any points at all.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteI dont pay a ton of attention to return yardage, but if McCluster is tearing it up, then you might want to go for it. They are playing Detroit, so they are going to be kicked to a lot, most likely.
Flex depends on your scoring system. Bradford has a tough matchup, but if QBs get a lot of points, then go for it. Benson is going to be a good call against the Broncos though, so if QBs arent very special, go with him.
Good. I like the quick questions. So much reading on some of these comments, this is not what I signed up for.
ReplyDeleteHere we go.
1) Wells in flex. I dont think he was a fluke last week. Matchup could work for him
2) Fitz however was a bit of a fluke. I cant imagine him having a week like that again. Bradford has a miserable matchup though.. so this is tough. I'd maybe look at free agency and see if you can grab Grossman or someone I have listed higher. If not, might have to gamble with Fitz.
3) Lots of TEs are going to have good stats all year long. Davis seemed a little too good to be true. I like Olsen this week more than any listed. Pettigrew is a close second though.
4) Nope
I cant imagine that Ingram is one of your starters. If he is, then it might be best to pass. If not, then you will be essentially replacing Branch with Wayne, which is a good trade to make.
ReplyDeleteI'd go Davis dropping Jones.
Gotta go with the best options here straight up. Bowe and Floyd.
ReplyDeleteIf Ben Gibson isnt picked up, he could be good as he is taking over for Amendola. I still like Roberts as a sleeper, but that might take a while to actually happen.
I would start Henderson. Colston is out. NO throws a lot. If Lance Moore is out again, then definitely go with him.
ReplyDeleteOakland was tough against the run. Mathews is losing ground fast to Tolbert. I'd go Greene. JAX held their own against TEN, but C Johnson didnt get any touches really. Its a risk, but it could pay off, he had a decent game against the Cowboys.
ReplyDeleteMarshall as WR2. He gets a lot of targets and MIA is going to pass a lot. Tolbert at Flex. He gets work rushing, gets the goal line carries and TDs and was actually a big part of their passing game last week.
ReplyDeleteBenson and Best here. Should be good games for both.
I'd go Bush. Its going to be a tough matchup, but he'll still fare better than Addai, especially if you are PPR.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, and thats what I thought the response would be.. A guy in one of my leagues dropped Crosby because he only got 6 points in week 1.. I had Josh Brown who had 9 but ultimately picked up Crosby for the same reason.. Stl Offense is all banged up with nowhere to go. Thank you for the insight.
ReplyDeleteI know the point you are trying to make. I will work this week to find a correlation from last season to try to figure this out. I just have always found Kicker to be a throw away because it varies every single week. Just look at 2010 weekly outcomes. Its a mess. Nearly impossible to predict. The only consistency that you will see is that teams with high power offenses will usually be in the top 15. The consistency is why I rank them this way.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead on Yahoo or ESPN or any other kicker site and you will find that their rankings are as all over the place as mine are.
I'll do some research, but I dont expect to find much.
Hey guys,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice! I won big in all my leagues and followed your blog religiously. For week two, I have a couple questions:
League 1:
At WR, I have Dez Bryant, Devrey Henderson, Plax, Gibson (STL), and Greg Little. I am leaning toward Dez, Henderson, and Plax. Any thoughts?
Flex is my biggest issue: should I start an aforementioned WR or Beanie Wells, or Karim?
DEF: Cleveland or Houston?
League 2:
At WR, I have VJax, Brandon Marshall, Kenny Britt, Santonio Holmes, Plax, and Meachem. I have Vjax and Marshall penciled in, but am not sure who to go with for WR3. Thoughts?
At FLEX, I could have any of the above WR’s not chosen plus, Beanie Wells, Cadillac Williams, Frank Gore (laid an egg on Seattle defense). Thoughts?
Both leagues are PPR.
Thanks a lot for your insight!
Youre welcome! Thanks for following us! Do us a favor and spread the word a bit (outside of your league of course)
ReplyDeleteLeague 1) I agree with your WRs here. Flex I would give to Wells. I have HOU and CLE very close, both could be alright this week. MIA might turn into a shoot out, but CLE didnt look to good against an awful Cincy team. Tough call. I have Houston a bit higher.
League 2) I have Holmes high this week. I love the matchup and he is Sanchez's favorite. Britt will have his hands full with Baltimore.
I like Wells again here at flex. But Britt is an elite player and could do well. Another gut decision here for you. Honestly, I think I'd gamble with Britt if it were me.
Glad to help. Best of luck to you!
I'm going to be trying to find some correlation for the kickers. Hopefully something will pop. There will be a post on it if I find something.
ReplyDeleteI tell all my friends in class about you guys, since they see me on fantasy sites throughout the lecture! They have posted some questions as well. Last question: I have to start Kolb or Flacco. Leaning toward Flacco, though Eli threw for 250 on Wash DEF. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHey man im in a 14 team ppr points per return, i was offered a trade, McFadden and Doucet for Brandon Floyd/D. Bees (one of the two, I could even try to get R. Wayne) and tim hightower/blount (one of the two). My WRs Andre Johnson, B. Marshal and early doucet, and RB's are McFadden, R. Mathews, D. Thomas and Delone Carter. Should I do it?
ReplyDeleteright on, brotha
ReplyDeleteIve got Flacco. He's just a more trustworthy quarterback. Tennessee defense isnt anything to be scared of either.
ReplyDeleteYour RBs would take a major hit doing this. Right now they are weak being McFadden and Mathews. Hightower/Blount and Mathews would be even worse. It would be nice to have a great WR lineup, but I think the cost is too high.
ReplyDeleteHey GHL,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to get an idea of who to start at RB/WR for both Leagues please…
RB: Chris Johnson, Hillis, Cadillac Williams, Addai , Mark Ingram, Ben Tate (need 3)
WR: Calvin Johnson, Manningham, Davon Bess, Mike Thomas, Johnny Knox (not much to chose from-need 2)
Team 2
RB: Reggie Bush or Jamaal Charles
Thank you…love the site!
Thanks for your help, the more I thought about it today the more I realized how playing the matchups like you said in this shallow league will be the difference. It is only a 10 team league.
ReplyDeleteSorry, yes we do have to keep our roster as is.
ReplyDeleteTeam 1) CJ, Hillis and Williams should all be good this week.
ReplyDeleteAt WR, Its pretty simple for me, Calvin Johnson and Manningham
Team 2) Charles. Gotta start a top 5 picks. No doubt.
Glad you like the site. Good luck this week.
Smaller leagues mean you need to make smart, calculated risks. Youve got it.
ReplyDeleteShould I trade: Chris Johnson and Julio Jones for Mendenhall and Reggie Wayne?
ReplyDeletePersonal preference thing really. I think that Johnson will have a good year, but Mendy will be right behind him.
ReplyDeleteJones will be a great WR, just not an elite one yet. I still like Wayne better, even with Indy performing terribly. I would personally make the trade. Its all about how you feel Wayne will do.
