Hey GHL readers!
If you have had a draft already, please riddle me this...
Where did Chris Johnson fall in your league. I've seen him taken as high as pick 6 and in my league draft last night he fall all the way to pick 10 in the third round.
Post in the comments where you are seeing CJ go in your drafts. Also, please include whether you are standard or PPR, et.
Thanks a lot! Good luck to anyone drafting tonight! I've got another one Monday night.
CJ went second in my draft which was 8/10 the holdout wasn't expected to be so serious back then though
ReplyDeleteIn my draft Saturday morning, he was 8th overall behind Foster, AP, Vick, Rice, Charles, Mendenhall, and Rodgers. We are 0.5 PPR. The guy that drafted him is a rookie, I think, so I have no idea how much he researched the situation before draft day.
ReplyDeleteI hate to ask this, but I have a question about a couple of hot commodities. Specifically, Antonio Brown and Ben Tate. My draft was only 36 hours hours ago and already I'm thinking of grabbing these guys. Of course, that could be because my draft was so bad last year that I had to comb the waivers every week to pick up anyone on a hot streak to bolster my weak team. Now I'm afraid it's a habit.
Tate has been talked about favorably this pre-season even before Foster got injured. Now that Foster has apparently re-injured the hammy, should I grab Tate before someone else does? I have Fred Jackson and McGahee on my bench already.
Brown has been tearing it up this preseason and even makes me a little nervous as a Wallace owner. I have Mike Thomas and Knox on my bench. Thomas was not someone I really wanted, but I grabbed him because the guy I wanted was picked right before my turn and I was running out of time to find someone else. Honestly, is he worth holding? What about Knox (keeping in mind that this league gives points for return yardage)? I'm tempted to drop my kicker just to free a spot for now, but I'm going to have the same agonizing decision in a week and a half when I have to pick someone to drop so I can get my kicker back.
Ben Tate > Willis McGahee, thats all I have to say.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Antonio Brown situation, do whichever one you feel comfortable with. Mike Thomas is an assured number one, and you don't know how the receptions are going to break down with Hines Ward, Wallace, and Emmanuel Sanders. That being said, I think Brown might have a higher ceiling being in a better offense. Take your pick. Ceiling or floor.
And BTW, never be afraid to comb the waiver wire, regardless of how good your draft was. If anything you are keeping other players from getting quality players and that alone helps you.
As for the holdout I really don't understand was the fuss is about. CJ is still CJ and you're going to have him for the playoffs. The hysteria is overblown.
ReplyDeleteCJ went 2nd in the 2nd round, we're 0.5 PPR league. McFadden and Mendenhall were both picked before him.
ReplyDeleteHe went in the first round in both of my drafts...2nd in one and 12th in the other
ReplyDeleteMcGahee and Tate are pretty interchangable for me. I don't necessarily have one ranked higher than the other. Both are backups. I think that McGahee could have an easier time coming across points, Tate has looked great all preseason, but I think Houston will keep an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach with Foster.
ReplyDeleteI really like how Brown has been looking. And I think he will continue to contribute into the year. That being said, I still have Thomas and Knox higher.
CJ went 12th in a 10-team standard.
ReplyDeleteIn your professional opinion do you believe he won't agree to a deal, with the Titans making it clear they won't trade him and already offering him the title of highest paid RB?
ReplyDeleteI was able to take A.P @ 4, then CJ2K in the second round. It was a pretty easy decision for me to have CJ as my RB2 even if he doesn't play the first couple weeks when I had peterson as my No.1
ReplyDeleteI've got to blame CJ for this. I'm actually on the Titans' side. Make him the highest RB, he deserves it and he won't be playing with a grudge. But he shouldn't be the highest paid in football. No reason. Unless CJ agrees to their terms, he won't be back.
ReplyDeleteI think that Johnson is too obsessed with his own statistics and is going to sign the deal soon enough. I don't think he is capable of not playing a season. Plus he has all the fans and fantasy players peer pressuring him.
Definitely an easy pick. What did you have two QBs go in the top three picks? Or did someone jump on Charles or Rice?
ReplyDeleteThe first four picks where Foster, Rodgers (huge packer homer pick), Rice then me with A.P.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew and Boom for the replies. I don't know why, I just have misgivings about Mike Thomas. Could be the Jags offense in general. I know it's only preseason, but when you have your starters in for most of the game and the Bills are owning you, that's not a good sign. I don't need another starter at WR, that's for sure (I have Megatron, Wallace, and Bryant starting), but it would be nice to have solid back-ups. Right now I have much more faith in Knox.
ReplyDeleteAs for McGahee, I owned him last year for a short time, so I know how streaky he was. However, I follow the Broncos religiously and have seen how they use him. Right now he is getting all the TDs. I'm convinced that McGahee is going to be another Tolbert this year and that Moreno will rarely score unless it's from outside 15 yards. I will agree with you, Boom, that Tate is a better RB, but given Houston's style, I doubt he will get many fantasy points as long as Foster is healthy. The whole reason I'm interested in him is because Foster does not appear to be 100% healthy right now! Also, as you said, it's not just about helping my team, but rather trying to keep him away from my competition (specifically the Foster owner)!
paid 40$ for cj2k in a 200$ budget .5ppr league, can juggle between brandon jacobs and fred jackson if he misses a few games
