Time to come off my bye in both standard leagues. I have some slight decision making to do in my 10 team (where I'm the projected winner by about 15-20 pts):
ReplyDeleteQB: Stafford or Tebow in a ridiculously high upside play
RB: Roy Helu or Felix Jones? My other RB is Ray Rice, so I have Helu's recent bankability vs. Jones' high risk/high reward
WR: Mike Wallace, Hakeem Nicks, Dez Bryant & Laurent Robinson. I need three and LaRo is far outproducing Dez despite playing only half as many snaps this past week
TE: Graham
DEF: New England, but the follow are available: Tennessee (IND), Seattle (CHI), Arizona (CLE). All seem to be worthy choices.
My 14 team decisions are a little easier:
QB: Newton
RB: Foster and Chris Johnson
WR: Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson, Mario Manningham, Denarius Moore, Johnny Knox & Riley Cooper. I'm playing the first two (and am going against Romo, which can help me pilfer some points when he scores) and am leaning towards Mario only because as of now, he's a healthy contributor in Eli's offense (and should have had two TD's against Dallas). Moore offers the most upside after the first two, but his health concerns me even though he's returned to practice..
TE: Hernandez
DEF: Philly, but Arizona is on waivers.
Thanks and good luck to all
Playoffs baby!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna put up my lineup, let me know if I should make any changes
QB- Tiny Romo
WR- Wallace
WR- Dez
WR- Robinson
RB- Rice
RB- Helu
TE- Daniels
Flex- Barber
Def- Ten
Bench- Jacobs, Boldin, T Smith, Olsen, Tolbert
What do ya think?
I picked up Felix Jones in 2 of my leagues hoping that all that promise he had at the beginning of the season comes true now. I'm glad you have him high on your list because I need him to fill Mendenhall's spot this week. (damn you 49er's Defense.)
ReplyDeleteI got to start 2 rbs 3wrs plus a flex definite starts are Ray Rice VJax Roddy Antonio Brown need help with the flex and 2nd rb spot between Julio Jabar Kevin Smith and Ingram
ReplyDeleteHey GHL, made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs.. having trouble with some decisions in a PPR league and would appreciate the advice! Thank you in advance!
ReplyDeleteQB - I got screwed when Shaub took a dump so I have to roll with Grossman, Hasselbeck or Locker (have to pick up locker) What do you think?
Two RBs - Foster, Helu, Beanie, S-Jax, Felix
I'm thinking Foster and Helu - Helu because of PPR ? Or Foster and Felix?
Three WR's - Fitzgerald, Bowe, Colston, Marshall
I'm thinking Fitz, and colston... not sure who to pick over the other.. Bowe or Marshall.. thoughts?
I have Mason Crosby as my Kicker and GB DEF..
Thanks!
Stafford over Tebow for me in your first league. Tebow does have upside, but I still have Stafford higher. Tebow has done nothing to show that he can pass, even on a bad defense.
ReplyDeleteBoth Helu and Felix are in my top 12. You laid it out perfectly that Jones has all the reward. If you are really favored by 15-20, I think it would be the smarter play to Helu as he gets the consistency points.
Again, you nailed it at WR. I have Robinson higher than Dez. Dez should get more looks this week against a much easier defense, but Robinson is getting more catches, more yards, more scores. Gotta roll with who's hot.
I've got Arizona defense highest here. CLE is a trainwreck. SEA has the turnover upside though. I'd go ARI.
Second team. Love the WR strategy starting both Cowboys. (Go Dallas!) Oakland is falling off, couldnt do anything against a poor GB defense. Knox is a huge stretch. So, again, I agree with your call for Manningham.
And again. I like ARI better than PHI here.
Happy to help man. Youve been killing it this year. Making my job easy
Hell yeah!
ReplyDeleteI'm not loving your flex. And your bench is full of rough matchups.
Barber dropped the ball last week. Have to think he'll be punished a bit for it. He lost that game.
Boldin has a tough tough matchup.
Jacobs is falling since Bradshaw is back.
Smith could very well have a better game than Boldin. But it is a risky play.
Tolbert is only as good as how many TDs he scores.
Everyone else in your lineup is solid. I think Flex will struggle no matter what your play is. Barber is the most consistent play. Boldin would seem to be the next most obvious choice. Smith has the upside if you feel like you need it, or are up enough to brag a bit.
Depends on the situation. Everyone else is legit.
I know. Mendy has been such a damn let down this year. And now, when he need him most he has the worst matchup in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteFelix is high. He wasnt so hot early in the year when he had the majority of the carries. But the O-line has matured and the FB is killing it. Should have a good game against a great matchup.
Awesome, always good to share opinions. One last thing - w/ Ben's health up in the air for Monday, do you think that would limit Wallace to the point where you'd bench him for Dez on Saturday? Scheduling is not kind with those two games.
ReplyDeleteps - it pains me to maybe have to play four Cowboys...go Giants!
Havent heard anything about Ingram playing, so you might have to go with Smith here.
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldnt get to you sooner on this. Really hope you checked the rankings and went with Julio at your Flex spot.
Happy to help.
ReplyDeleteQB- I'd go Grossman. Locker should get the TEN start, but I like Grossman against that defense.
I agree Foster and Helu, just because of the PPR aspect of it. I have Felix high as well, but Helu bring you the consistency with the upside.
WRs I have Bowe lowest. But if Orton gets the start, I really think that he could be big sleeper potential. It's risky though. Safer play here is Marshall. Good matchups for all of your WRs this week.
Bens health definitely affects everyone on the team. If he doesnt play, take the Steelers out.
ReplyDeleteThe schedule does not help though. Gotta wait and see for now.
Still in the hunt for final playoff spot but just barely. I am in a 3 way tie and don't just need a win. I figure I need to hit 135 this week and the other 2 teams to score aound 85 or less. I got some help tonight with Roddy White and Matt Ryan. I have 48 points going into this weekend. I need about 83+. Originally I thought about tanking this week because the guy I play automatically makes it of he beats me. However if I beat him and do not out score the other two teams one them makes it and I cannot stand either, So I control the destiny to 3 other teams. With that said here is my team.
ReplyDeleteAt RB Foster, Lynch, and Bush Pick 2
At WR NElson, Washington, and Antonio Brown Pick 2 I had Jennings but lost him
At TE I just placed a waiver claim on Daniels
Kicker Crosby
Defense Chicago or Cincy
Keep in mind I need to put up about 85 more points with my QB and WR1 already burned. Do you think it is possible to put up 85 with the remaining pieces?
Would you consider starting T.Smith over Wallace if Ben is out? Also do you think Gresham has more upside than Daniels? I could pick him up and start him.
ReplyDeleteOk now, in my other league I've gotta make a call between Mendenhall and Jacobs. Bradshaw hasn't been practicing until today and Jacobs has been getting the goal line work, but then again, Roethlisberger might be out and his back up was terrible so they might be forced into runs and screens.
ReplyDeletePeople that didn't make the playoffs have it easy.
So, sounds to me like this is a go big or go home. So you are going to want to go high upside with these picks. Screw consistency, average points will not win this game for you. Go for the guys that are most likely to have breakouts.
ReplyDeleteAT RB, Foster and Lynch
WR- I love Nelson this week. At the second spot though it really depends. If Roethlisberger plays, you have to go Brown here. He has tremendous upside every week and has really become the favorite receiver on that team. But if Roeth doesn’t play (I expect him to sit actually), then I think you have to go Washington on this. Hard to tell with him since Locker will be his quarterback in all likelihood. I think that he could put up some good numbers though against a soft matchup.
Daniels is a good play at TE. Backup quarterback in and he will get the dropdowns. HOU has been surprisingly good even after Schaub went down.
Defense is also tricky. Both have great matchup. Both should hold the opposing team to low points. What you need to determine is not even a little bit simple. Which team with get the most turnovers and has the best chance to score.
Bears are playing the Seahawks, who have more turnovers this year than the Rams. Also the Bears have more INTS and more defensive and ST touchdowns. Gotta go with them here.
It’s going to take a bit of luck, but you are off to a killer start with White and Ryan getting it done last night.
Good luck and make sure you let me know how it goes.
I think Wallace is too talented to sit here. I can see you benching him for a top 25 receiver, but Smith is a long shot. That said though, if you feel that you need to gamble a bit, then go for it. Against SF though, it seems that the only way to effectively move the ball is through the air.
ReplyDeleteBoth TEs are good. Gresham is more of the big play guy than Daniels, but Owen Daniels is the safer play here. He has been performing fine with the backup QB and should continue to do so. Gresham is much more hit or miss
Haha. You said it. Mendy has a miserable matchup. And will have a hell of a time doing anything on the ground. If he does get points, they will be in the passing game. You make a good point that if Roeth is out, that Mendy will get all the drop down stuff. But I hate relying on theories.
ReplyDeleteJacobs only had a good game last week because Bradshaw was forced to sit out for a half. I dont expect him to have numbers any where near last week. But, like you said, he is a vulture, and with Bradshaw still healing, he could see a decent workload.
Based on Mendy's poor track record this year, combined with the awesome DEF of the Niners, I think it wouldnt be crazy to throw Jacobs in this week.
Thanks in advance! Heading into my 2nd round playoff match up... I need to start two receivers out of Brandon Lloyd, Donald Driver (picked up being my boy Jennings is out), Nate Washington, Antonio Brown.
ReplyDeleteQb Brees
Wr
Wr
Rb Adrian Peterson
Rb Marshawn Lynch
Te Jimmy Graham
Flex Cedric Benson
Kicker New England
Def Baltimore
....Give me your thoughts! Much Appreciated!
...also have Manningham in my receiver selection
ReplyDeleteSo, Just realized I have Philip Rivers and the Ravens D going against each other this weekend. Rivers scares me since he has been subpar this year. CBS is saying Hasselbeck will play against the colts...do you think that would be worth a shot in the dark for the playoffs? Or should I just roll with Rivers and maybe pick up a sleeper D (best out in my league is probably the Cowboys) and hope rivers shreds them or just do nothing?
ReplyDeleteGHL, would you start Ryan Mathews or Laurent Robinson at the flex position?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say Lloyd and Brown. Even with Jennings out, Driver is still behind Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Jermichael Finley. His numbers will go up, and scoring chance is there, but I think he is too far on the depth chart to rely on.
ReplyDeleteNate Washington is a sleeper this week for sure. He seems to do well when Locker plays.
But I think Lloyd should be a starter. He is really the only STL scoring option at this point. And Brown has been hot all year, even if Roethlisberger doesnt start, he should get his fair share of looks since the only way to score on SF is passing the ball.
Manningham makes things interesting. Hard to rely on, but he is healthy now and showed up last week against Dallas.
ReplyDeleteIf Big Ben sits, then he might have to go in to replace Brown if you are as nervous about the PIT offense minus Roeth as I am.
With Hasselbecks recent injuries, I have to say no to him. Grossman is interesting. NYG has been giving up a lot over the past few weeks and Grossman is on a pretty good streak.
ReplyDeleteRivers, despite the matchup, is still my highest of all of them though. So I'd start him. He has been good the last few weeks. All his receivers are healthy and SD looks pretty great recently.
It is still possible to start the Ravens defense. That way if there are any turnovers on Rivers's part, you are making up for them on the defensive side. But then every time Rivers scores a TD, you are losing points on the Defensive side.
I like Dallas against the Bucs. They turned the ball over, what, 7 times last week? I think they could be a good call if you want to replace the Ravens D this week.
I'd probably go for that. Because having a starting QB facing your defense is kind of the worst.
Mathews against the Ravens rush defense is a no go in my book. Robinson's playing time has gone down with Austin in, but he is still a good start and gets a lot of looks and redzone TDs. I go Robinson with this one.
ReplyDeleteMissed the playoffs after a three way tie for the final two positions was decided by highest overall points. Nelson, Daniels and Crosby let me down this week. The most devastating stat is a missed 29 yard field goal by Crosby in week 11 leading to a 5 point penalty and loss by 2 points. Hopefully next year plays out a little better. Don't worry I will be back next year for advice time. Thank you for keeping me relevant this late in the season. I look forward to your help next year. Good luck to the rest still in it.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. Of all the years I've been playing fantasy, this one seems to have the most to do with luck. Lots of injuries. Lots of sleepers. Lots of big names falling irrelevant. Crazy year.
ReplyDeleteI'll be very happy to see you back next year. If you dont mind checking in a few times in the next few weeks, I will be asking the readers some questions about how to improve the site, what they would like to see. What I can do better to help you guys out. If there are any articles or advice you want to come next year, think about it and get back to me!
Thanks for hanging out this year.
