Week 15 Sleepers and Pickups

And the playoffs keep rolling along. Awkward week last week. Lots of stars putting up pretty awful performances. A handful of no-names came out of nowhere.
Overall, the pick-ups here are pretty simple. When we get into the playoffs, I am far less likely to count on sleepers, so I don’t have any pickups for that either.
Basically, if you want to get anyone off of free agency, you are looking for great matchups, or injury fill-ins.
Biggest injury of the week has to go to DeMarco Murray. Felix Jones filled in and had a decent day. But I think that, for the most part, that we because the Giants did not game plan for him. The Cowboys have another good matchup though as they face the Bucs, who just gave up four touchdowns to Maurice Jones-Drew.
If Felix is still floating in free agency, I think he is a must add. He will be a great play for the next two weeks, facing the poor run defenses of Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. He will also be working with fullback Fiammetta, who has been largely credited with Murray’s success. The Cowboys just signed ex-Patriot Sammy Morris to the team. He could get some runs, and steal the goal line work, but I would not add him unless you are in a mind-blowingly deep league.

Wanna Play Me?

Hey guys,

So, I've been using a site for the past few weeks and I've been having a great time with it. It's called FanDuel.

Basically, you go there, deposit a few bucks and play one-on-one matchups or enter 5-10 man leagues that last for that weekend of Football. You can enter free leagues, or wager anywhere from $1 to way way more.

You have a $60K bank and fill up positions based on who you think is going to kill it that particular week.

Enter your players, watch the games, they tabulate your score, and if you win the matchup, you win the bet and the money.

Anyways... If you follow this link http://www.fanduel.com/?invitedby=godhateslosers&cnl=da and deposit 10 dollars, then we should each get some free money and we can play against each other.

So, follow the link, log in, deposit, and search for me (my screenname is godhateslosers, obviously.) and challenge me to a game of one-on-one. (I will play a few money games, but I'm very poor, so we might have to play free. Sorry)

You got what it takes to beat me at my own game?

Week 14 Fantasy Football Pick'em and Predictions

For the past few weeks I've been picking up the pace. Been basing my picks a lot on the Thursday night game actually. Seahawks beat the Eagles last week, I picked a handful of upsets and they paid off.

This Thursday, the Steelers barely escaped the Browns of all teams. This could point to another week of upsets if I'm going off the same strategy, but I'm not feeling very upsetty this week.

I'm normally scared when they look straightforward, but the only big gun I can see going down is the Patriots of all teams. Redskins passing game and emergence of Helu might be enough. And Brady and the Pats (mostly the secondary) only got past the un-undefeated Colts by seven.

Here's the picks.

Week 14 Fantasy Football Position Rankings

Ah, my favorite time of week. Time to get started on the position rankings. Hope everyone made it into their playoffs and are not going at it for the chance to be the champion.
My strategy in the playoffs doesn’t change much from the regular season. But for those of you who have spent the last few weeks making big gambles to get off the bubble and into the playoffs, now is the time too cool down a bit and focus on consistency.
A home run here and there is a good thing. But I’d rather start a guy who is guaranteed to get me 8 points a week than go for the guy that could end up with either 15 or zero.
Matt Forte, Adrian Peterson and Andre Johnson are the biggest names out. But we are likely to see the return of Jeremy Maclin and Miles Austin. Keep an eye out, because there are a lot of questionable and probables out there.
Any questions for GHL... you know what to do.

Week 14 Fantasy Football Pickups

Before we get started on the Waiver Wire pickups... I feel the need for a bit of a pity party here.
I am in a league. 10-teams, IDP, weighted for tackles, competitive and for some cash.
I went into Week 13 at 11-1, I had locked a playoff spot four weeks ago. Locked first place two weeks ago. Untouchable. I mean it.
And in the past two week, my two starting running backs, Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte, both ranked in the top five in scoring, went down. To make matters worse, my two top linebackers, (again, both in the top five in linebacker scoring), Pat Angerer and Desmond Bishop went down with injury.
My four, FOUR, top performing players, all gone. A week before the playoffs begin.
So, now, more than ever, I am pouring my heart and soul into waiver wire pick-ups, because God knows that I need them too.

Week 13 Pick'em and Predictions

Eagles looking like a hot mess vs. the Seahhawks on Thursday night makes me a little bit worried about the remainder of Week 13.

We've seen one relative upset where the favorite completely flopped on the road. And this week we see a lot of favorites hitting the road to face teams that have upset potential. At first glance, these games appear straightforward, but I would not be surprised to see some home team underdogs keep them close. I'm talking about Texans and Falcons, Vikings and Broncos, Dolphins and Raiders, Redskins and Jets, Cardinals and Cowboys, Jags and Chargers.

Could see some big surprises this week. That's all I'm saying.

My locks for the week are Patriots (obviously), Cowboys, Ravens and 49ers. If you're still alive, these teams are likely not available for you to choose from. So good luck with that. Broncos over Vikings and Chargers over Jags would be next in line.

Good luck to everyone. Enjoy Week 13!

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks Matchup Preview

Lots of backups on Philly's roster. And, still listed as questionable, LeSean McCoy might be added to that list.

I think that he will get the start and the playing time. If he's on your roster, you better wait til the last minute for word on his status before starting or sitting him.

Philly should be a bit angry after an awful loss to New England, but Vince Young and the receivers were a bit promising putting up over 400 yards through the air.

With Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin still out, I think you can count on another big day for the Philly offense, statistically anyways.

Seattle has some injuries of their own. Sidney Rice is out for the year, and the offensive line has taken a few hits, meaning that their lone offensive bright spot, Marshawn Lynch, will be facing a tougher defensive stand than he has in the past.

Here are my start'em and sit'em picks for tonight's game.

Start: Vince Young, DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Brent Celek, SEA Defense, PHI Defense

Perhaps: Marshawn Lynch, Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Kickers

Sit: Tarvaris Jackson, All backup RBs and WRs, Zach Miller

Sleepers: I think all SEA receivers are sleepers here, none of them are too ahead of the pack. Each of them has good games (or at least seasons) under their belt. With no front-runner, they are all big gambles.
Marshawn Lynch will face a lot of pressure since the O-Line and passing game is so weak, but the Philly Defense has not been great at all against the run. He's not exactly a stable start, but of all the Seahawks, I have to say he has the best chance to score.

As for predictions. Jordan and I both have Philly taking this one.
